Someone in Mind

Terms of Service

Last updated: October 30, 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Someone in Mind ("we," "us"). By texting us, opting in on our website, or otherwise using Someone in Mind (the "Service"), you agree to these terms, our Privacy Policy, and our SMS Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.

1. Who can use the Service

You may use the Service only if:

2. How it works

Friends recommend friends to us by text. Our matchmakers, helped by software, review recommendations and may suggest an introduction between two people who have both opted in. Before an introduction, each person is asked to complete a live selfie check, and each person decides whether to meet. We don't promise that you will be matched, introduced, or that any introduction will lead to a date or a relationship.

3. Recommending a friend

When you tell us about a friend, you agree that:

4. Your conduct

You agree not to:

We may stop texting you, decline to introduce you, or end your use of the Service at any time, for any reason, including if we believe you broke these terms.

5. Verification and safety

We do not run criminal background checks. Our selfie check, provided by a third-party verification service, only confirms that a real, live person completed it. It does not confirm anyone's identity, age, relationship status, or anything a person or their friend tells us. Recommendations reflect the opinions of the people who make them.

You are solely responsible for your interactions with anyone you meet through the Service, online or in person. Please read our safety tips, meet in public, and text REPORT to tell us about a concern. If you are in danger, call 911.

6. Photos

If you agree to an introduction, we ask for a recent photo of you. You must have the right to share it, and it must show you. We may compare it to your selfie check. We share it only with that one match, and only if they say yes too, and we delete it when the introduction ends. You give us permission to store and share it for that purpose only.

7. Texts

The Service runs over text message. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out at any time, or HELP for help. Details are in our SMS Terms.

8. Price and changes

The Service is currently free. We may change, pause, or stop the Service, or start charging for it, at any time. We'll tell you before we charge you for anything, and you won't be charged without agreeing.

9. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don't guarantee the conduct, identity, intentions, or compatibility of anyone you are introduced to, or that the Service will be uninterrupted or error free.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, Someone in Mind and the people who run it will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service or your interactions with other people, including anyone you meet through the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to one hundred US dollars ($100). Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.

11. Release

Disputes between you and anyone you meet through the Service are between you and them. To the fullest extent allowed by law, you release us from claims arising from those disputes. If you are a California resident, you waive California Civil Code Section 1542, which says: "A general release does not extend to claims that the creditor or releasing party does not know or suspect to exist in his or her favor at the time of executing the release and that, if known by him or her, would have materially affected his or her settlement with the debtor or released party."

12. Indemnity

You agree to cover any claims, losses, and costs (including reasonable legal fees) that we face because of your breach of these terms or your conduct toward other people you meet through the Service.

13. Disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict of law rules. If you have a concern, please email us first so we can try to resolve it informally. Any dispute that isn't resolved that way will be brought only in the state or federal courts in San Francisco County, California, except that either of us may bring a claim in small claims court.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change is significant, we'll let you know by text or on this page before it takes effect. Using the Service after a change means you accept the updated terms.
